Conservation Security Program (CSP) - Pacific Islands - West

CSP is a voluntary program that provides financial and technical assistance to producers who advance the conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant and animal life, and other conservation purposes on Tribal and private working lands. Working lands include cropland, grassland, prairie land, improved pasture, and range land, as well as forested land that is an incidental part of an agriculture operation. The program is available in all 50 States, the Caribbean Area and the Pacific Islands - West (PI-West). The program provides equitable access to benefits to all producers, regardless of size of operation, crops produced, or geographic location.

The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (2002 Farm Bill) (Pub. L. 107-171) amended the Food Security Act of 1985 to authorize the program. CSP is administered by USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

February 22, 2006, 1-3 pm, Sinajana Mayor's Office; February 23, 2006, 6-8 pm, Dededo Mayor's Office. These meetings will help producers learn what kind of documentation they will need for CSP.

CSP 2006 Sign-up

Sign-up for FY2006 CSP in the Northern Guam Watershed is February 13, 2006 to March 31, 2006. The program will be offered each year on a rotational basis in as many watersheds as funding permits. Documents on this page provide specifics about the CSP program, basic eligibility requirements, and other information to help farmers and ranchers prepare for future sign-ups.

CSP Self-Assessment Workbook

By going through the CSP Self-Assessment Workbook, potential CSP participants will get a good idea about whether they are eligible for CSP at this time. Producers who may not be eligible can find out about programs that can help them achieve a higher level of conservation so that they may apply for CSP in the future.
